WASTE-to-ENERGY (WtE): POWERING THE FUTURE

Our Waste-to-Energy plants play a critical role in advancing sustainable waste management, renewable energy generation, and landfill diversion across the communities we serve. Collectively, these facilities process nearly 5,000 tons of municipal solid waste each day, or more than 1.8 million tons annually, material that would otherwise be sent to landfills. Instead, this waste is transformed into reliable, locally generated renewable electricity that strengthens long-term energy resilience.

Together, our Waste-to-Energy plants generate enough renewable power each year to supply the equivalent of more than 86,000 homes, while displacing over 837,000 barrels of oil annually. This integrated approach reduces dependence on fossil fuels and supports a more balanced and sustainable energy portfolio.

Beyond energy generation, our operations contribute meaningfully to a circular economy. Approximately 45,000 tons of metals are recovered each year and returned to recycling markets, conserving natural resources and reducing the demand for virgin materials.

By combining landfill diversion, renewable power production, and material recovery at scale, our Waste-to-Energy Plants deliver measurable environmental benefits while supporting sustainable growth, energy security, and long-term community well-being.

Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) & Recycling

Join FCC’s Educational Material Recovery facility (MRF) Tours

At FCC, we recognize that education is the cornerstone for revolutionizing recycling practices and ensuring sustainability for the future. That’s precisely why we extend an invitation to experience our commitment firsthand through educational tours at both of our cutting-edge recycling facilities in Texas!

Immerse yourself in the journey of recyclables, witnessing the meticulous sorting and preparation processes that leads to the creation of recycled products.

This interactive tour promises to provide a profound understanding of what unfolds once your used bottles, paper, and cardboard enter our facilities.

Landfill Diversion

Our MRFs and WtE facilities divert a large amount of waste away from landfills, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and material recovery.

Fleet Optimization: CNG + Electric Vehicles

We’ve invested more than $300 million in cleaner fleet technologies, including compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles. Today, CNG trucks and  electric vehicles make up over 50% of our total fleet, significantly reducing emissions and supporting quieter, more efficient operations. This transition reflects our long-term commitment to sustainable transportation and environmental stewardship.
